I created the shape in Pro Engineer using the variable section sweep tool as it gave me the right sort of long curves to fit in with my design.
This is looking into using the wrap tool on Pro Engineer.
The speaker cover that will be manufactured on the Rapid prototyper. I have designed the holes in the cover to reflect on the water theme of the Olympic aquatic centre. I also decided to keep the finish of the product from the rapid prototype machine as the texture reminded me of water.
These are the assembly drawings showing the components inside the design & the speaker cover part over the speaker.
This is the actual part that I machined on the CNC router. I had to add the flanges either side & the small support block so I was able to flip the model to machine the outside.
